The Taittinger Collection series was conceived in the late 1970s by Claude Taittinger. A longtime patron of the arts, with a passionate interest in modern schools of painting and sculpture, he perceived a natural alliance between the artist's creation and the art of the great winemaker. Thus, in 1983, Champagne Taittinger presented the first of its revolutionary Collection series, uniting art and Champagne in the design of a special bottle with a laser-sealed sleeve that visually expresses the artist's concept and the magic of Champagne. Featuring the work of artists such as French surrealist André Masson, American pop artist Robert Rauschenberg and more recently the renowned Senegalese painter Amadou Sow, these stunning bottles were commissioned in the 21st century and will perpetuate Champagne Taittinger's affiliation with the greatest artists of our time. Victor Vasarely (1978 vintage) inaugurated this series, followed by Arman (1981), André Masson (1982), Vieira da Silva (1983), Roy Lichenstein (1985), Hans Hartung (1986), Toshimitsu Imaï (1988), Corneille (1990), Matta (1992), Zao Wou Ki (1998) and Rauschenberg (2000).
