Lupicaia 1999 Castello del Terriccio Toscana Rosso IGT
The estate's flagship wine was created in 1993 and immediately established itself as a world-class producer. The carefully selected grapes for this exquisite red come from the Lupicaia vineyard, located in the most suitable part of the estate and bordered by rows of eucalyptus trees. Lupicaia owes its name to a local placename that stems from the stream of the same name, where wolves were once spotted.
Consistently recognized by national and international wine critics as one of Italy's greatest wines, Lupicaia is a wine of great character, a full-bodied red with complex aromas. A wine for aging and contemplation.
Lupicaia is made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. It is aged separately in Allier tonneaux for approximately 22 months, followed by a subsequent blending and further bottle aging before release.
This wine is born from the attention and care put into every production process, including the manual selection of the finest grapes and aging in barrels. It produces 30,000 bottles annually.
