THE GREAT BORDEAUX
The Bordeaux region, located in southwest France along the Garonne River, is renowned for producing some of the world's finest wines. Bordeaux wines are generally classified based on their grape varieties, the soil in which they are grown, and the winemaking process. Major Bordeaux wines include Cabernet Sauvignon, dominated by wines from the Médoc region, such as Château Margaux and Château Latour; Merlot, prevalent in the Saint-Émilion and Pomerol regions, famous for Château Pétrus; Cabernet Franc, often used in Bordeaux blends; and Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, which are the primary varieties for the dry and sweet white wines of the Graves and Sauternes regions. Bordeaux wines are renowned for their complexity, structure, and aging potential, making them coveted by collectors and wine connoisseurs worldwide.
